| BUILD IT TWICE
(BIT) introduces the owner—of any type of building project—to
the strangers who will design and construct his or her project, and to the interactions
they must all undertake for it to be successful. It’s also a journey through what can
happen when those interactions aren’t effective or timely, or don’t promote an
environment of mutual respect. BIT describes how other strangers from the construction claims cottage industry can exploit and abuse an owner’s budget. And it explores the competence of attorneys, arbitrators, mediators and the courts to resolve, or even to recognize these abuses. It exposes the hollow promises behind the construction industry’s standard contracts, buzzwords, games and "panaceas." And BIT describes a Project Plan through which every owner—private or public, individual or organization—can, with no technical experience or background, enhance the prospects for realizing a successful building project.
